1). Simon was wrong for a number of reasons. First he believed that he could buy the power of God. This is where we get the word simony. The giving of the Holy Ghost was sometimes given through the laying on of hands. It was here in Acts 8. It was also used in Acts 9 with Ananias and Paul (Acts 9:17); and also in Acts 19:1-7. In Acts 2:1-4 and Acts 10:44-48 laying on of hands was not used, the Holy Ghost just fell on them.
