 Deuteronomy 2:23

And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)

1). Louis Goldberg: Another historical note refers to the Avvites, who lived in southwestern Israel, even as far as Gaza, the city at the southwestern border of the land of Israel. These people had been driven out by the Caphtorites (possibly the Philistines), coming from Caphtor or perhaps Crete.


2). DC: The passage says that each of the giant races were all destroyed by succeeding peoples, with the help of God. The Zamzumims were replaced by the Ammonites, the Horites were replaced by the Edomites, Esau’s people, and the Avvims were all destroyed by the Philistines.
