1). The blessing on Obededom and his house no doubt
at least included all of the blessings listed in Deuteronomy 28 but were in a
more obvious demonstration by God.
a). Deuteronomy 28:1-13 And it shall come to pass,
if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe
and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy
God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
28:2 And all these blessings shall come on thee,
and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
28:3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed
shalt thou be in the field.
28:4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and
the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine,
and the flocks of thy sheep.
28:5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.
28:6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and
blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
28:7 The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise
up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee
one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
28:8 The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee
in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall
bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
28:9 The LORD shall establish thee an holy people
unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments
of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways.
28:10 And all people of the earth shall see that
thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.
28:11 And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in
goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the
fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give
thee.
28:12 The LORD shall open unto thee his good
treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless
all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou
shalt not borrow.
28:13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and
not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if
that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command
thee this day, to observe and to do them:
2). The blessing upon Obededom and all his
household was of course because of the Ark, the presence of God. This is an Old
Covenant level of blessing given to one whose house had the presence of God. Saints,
we in this New Covenant are bearing or carrying the presence of God.
a). Romans 8:9-11 But ye are not in the flesh, but
in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man
have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead
because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus
from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also
quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
3). The blessings of the New Covenant are far
greater than the blessings of the Old Covenant because we have a better Covenant.
a). Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of
our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in
heavenly places in Christ:
b). Hebrews 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more
excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant,
which was established upon better promises.
c). 2 Peter 1:2-4 Grace and peace be multiplied
unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto
us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of
him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and
precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature,
having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
