Of the sons of Merari; Asaiah the chief, and his
brethren two hundred and twenty:

1. “Of the sons of Merari…”

1). The Merari branch of Levites had also
particular parts of the Tabernacle they were responsibile for.
a). Numbers 3:33-37 Of Merari was the family of
the Mahlites, and the family of the Mushites: these are the families of Merari.
3:34 And those that were numbered of them,
according to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were six
thousand and two hundred.
3:35 And the chief of the house of the father of
the families of Merari was Zuriel the son of Abihail: these shall pitch on the
side of the tabernacle northward.
3:36 And under the custody and charge of the sons
of Merari shall be the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the
pillars thereof, and the sockets thereof, and all the vessels thereof, and all
that serveth thereto,
3:37 And the pillars of the court round about, and
their sockets, and their pins, and their cords.

c. and his brethren [Strong: 251 * 'ach awkh a
primitive word; a brother (used in the widest sense of literal relationship and
metaphorical affinity or resemblance (like 1)):--another, brother(-ly);
kindred, like, other.]
d. two hundred [Strong: 3967 * me'ah may-aw' or
metyah {may-yaw'}; properly, a primitive numeral; a hundred; also as a
multiplicative and a fraction:--hundred((-fold), -th), + sixscore.
e. and twenty [Strong: 6242 * `esriym es-reem' from
6235; twenty; also (ordinal) twentieth:--(six-)score, twenty(-ieth).]
