1 Chronicles 15:13
For because ye did it not at the first, the
LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due
order.
a. NLT: Because you Levites did not carry the Ark
the first time, the anger of the LORD our God burst out against us. We failed
to ask God how to move it properly.”
b. NIV: It was because you, the Levites, did not
bring it up the first time that the LORD our God broke out in anger against us.
We did not inquire of him about how to do it in the prescribed way.”
c. YLT: because at the first it was not ye,
Jehovah our God made a breach upon us, because we sought Him not according to
the ordinance.'
d. Amplified Bible Classic: For because you bore it
not [as God directed] at the first, the Lord our God broke forth upon
us—because we did not seek Him in the way He ordained.
e. Septuagint: For because ye were not [ready] at
the first, our God made a breach upon us, because we sought him not according
to the ordinance.
f. Stone Edition Torah/Prophets/Writings: For the
first time, it was not you; HASHEM our God dealt harshly with us, for we did
not seek Him out as was proper.”

1). The breach of course was the death of Uzzah during
the first attempt at bringing the Ark to Jerusalem.
a). 2 Samuel 6:3-7 And they set the ark of God
upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in
Gibeah: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drave the new cart.
6:4 And they brought it out of the house of
Abinadab which was at Gibeah, accompanying the ark of God: and Ahio went before
the ark.
6:5 And David and all the house of Israel played

1). Before the first attempt to bring the Ark to
Jerusalem no one sought God on how they should do it. David attached the blame
upon himself and the priests and the Levites for the error. The priests and the
Levites were responsible to know the law, in particular how to transport the
Tabernacle and all things therein, but the king also had a responsibility to
read and know the law.
a). Deuteronomy 17:18-20 And it shall be, when he
sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this
law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites:
17:19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read
therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God,
to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:
17:20 That his heart be not lifted up above his
brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right
hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in
his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.
