Romans 3:25
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through
faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that
are past, through the forbearance of God;
1. “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation
through faith in his blood…”
a. Whom [Strong: 3739 hos hos,
including feminine he hay, and neuter ho ho probably a primary word (or
perhaps a form of the article 3588); the relatively (sometimes demonstrative)
pronoun, who, which, what, that:--one, (an-, the) other, some, that, what,
which, who(-m, -se), etc.]
b. God [2316 * theos] [Strong: of
uncertain affinity; a deity, especially (with 3588) the supreme Divinity;
figuratively, a magistrate; by Hebraism, very:--X exceeding, God, god(-ly, -ward).]
c. hath set forth [Strong: 4388 protithemai
prot-ith'-em-ahee middle voice from 4253 and 5087; to place before, i.e.
(for oneself) to exhibit; (to oneself) to propose (determine):--purpose, set
forth.]
d. [to be] a
propitiation [Strong: 2435 hilasterion hil-as-tay'-ree-on neuter
of a derivative of 2433; an expiatory (place or thing), i.e. (concretely) an
atoning victim, or (specially) the lid of the Ark (in the Temple):--mercyseat,

from, in, by occasion of, of, by reason of, for sake, that, thereby, therefore,
X though, through(-out), to, wherefore, with (-in). In composition it retains
the same general importance.]
f. faith [Strong: 4102 pistis
pis'-tis from 3982; persuasion, i.e. credence; moral conviction (of
religious truth, or the truthfulness of God or a religious teacher), especially
reliance upon Christ for salvation; abstractly, constancy in such profession;
by extension, the system of religious (Gospel) truth itself:--assurance,
belief, believe, faith, fidelity.]
g. in [Strong: 1722 en en
a primary preposition denoting (fixed) position (in place, time or state), and
(by implication) instrumentality (medially or constructively), i.e. a relation
of rest (intermediate between 1519 and 1537); "in," at, (up-)on, by,
etc.:--about, after, against, + almost, X altogether, among, X as, at, before,

Often used in compounds, with substantially the same import; rarely with verbs
of motion, and then not to indicate direction, except (elliptically) by a
separate (and different) preposition.]
h. his [Strong: 846 autos ow-tos'
from the particle au (perhaps akin to the base of 109 through the idea of a
baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the
comparative 1438) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun)
of the other persons:--her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said,
(self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that,
their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they,
(these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which.]
i. blood [Strong: 129 haima
hah'-ee-mah of uncertain derivation; blood, literally (of men or
animals), figuratively (the juice of grapes) or specially (the atoning blood of
Christ); by implication, bloodshed, also kindred:--blood.]
1). The first covering of sin and
nakedness took place in the garden after Adam and Eve sinned, with the coat of
skins God covered their nakedness and with the blood of the slain animal God
covered their sin. Thus the blood covenant was established to allow sinful man
to approach God in Covenant and obtain righteousness with God. It was the only
way.
a). Genesis 3:21 Unto Adam also
and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
2). With Abel it was the same.
a). Genesis 4:4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of
his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his
offering:
b). Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel
offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained
witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being
dead yet speaketh.
3). Faith in His blood, Praise God!
a). Hebrews 9:11, 12 But Christ
being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect
tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
9:12 Neither by the blood of goats
and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having
obtained eternal redemption for us.
4). The rejection of the blood
covenant was first practiced by Cain when he refused to bring a blood sacrifice
before the LORD. Because of his rejection of the blood sacrifice his offering
was rejected by God.
a). Genesis 4:3-5 And in process
of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an
offering unto the Lord.
3:4 And Abel, he also brought of
the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect
unto Abel and to his offering:
3:5 But unto Cain and to his
offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
5). I believe that the deception of
rejecting the blood covenant sacrifice is what Jude is referring to Jude 11
when he writes, “Woe unto them! For they have gone in the way of Cain…”. Many
within apostate Christianity or progressive Christianity reject the blood
covenant sacrifice.

righteousness for the remission of sins that are past…”

a primary preposition; to or into (indicating the point reached or entered), of
