We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.

1. We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.

a. [We have] sent [Strong:  649. apostello ap-os-tel'-lo from 575 and 4724; set apart, i.e. (by implication) to send out (properly, on a mission) literally or figuratively:--put in, send (away, forth, out), set (at liberty).]

b. therefore [Strong: 3767. oun oon apparently a primary word; (adverbially) certainly, or (conjunctionally) accordingly:--and (so, truly), but, now (then), so (likewise then), then, therefore, verily, wherefore.]

c. Judas [Strong: 2455. Ioudas ee-oo-das' of Hebrew origin (3063); Judas (i.e. Jehudah), the name of ten Israelites; also of the posterity of one of them and its region:--Juda(-h, -s); Jude.]

1). Unger’s Bible Dictionary: Barsabas (bar-sab-s; son of Sabas). A surname…. Of Judas, who with Silas, was sent to Antioch in the company of Paul and Barnabas (Acts 15:22).

d. and [Strong: 2532. kai kahee apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.]

e. Silas [Strong: 4609. Silas see'-las contraction for 4610; Silas, a Christian:--Silas.]

1). Unger’s Bible Dictionary: Silas (si’las; apparently Greek, from Aram, Sheila [Saul]. This name is evidently a contracted form of Silvanus (sylvan0, a prominent member of the church in Jerusalem (Acts 15:22. Of his immediate family no account is given, but his name, derived from the Latin silva, “wood,” betokens him a hellenistic jew, and he appears to have been a Roman citizen (Acts 16:37). He is probably the same as Silvanus, mentioned in Paul's epistles. Upon the return of Paul and Barnabas to Jerusalem from their missionary tour, a discussion arose respecting circumcision and the council decided against the extreme Judaizing party, Silas was appointed a delegate to accompany paul and Barnabas on their return to Antioch with the decree of the Council of Jerusalem (Acts 15, 22, 32), A.D. about 50. After accomplishing this mission he remained in Antioch, although granted permission to return (Acts 15:33, 34). The qualification of Silas for speaking to a congregation is stated (Acts 15:32).
