And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.

1). Robert A. Tourville, Acts of the Apostles: Claudius ruled as emperor 41-54 A.D. Paul came to Corinth perhaps in the fall of 51 A.D. since the Jerusalem conference was held about 50 A.D. Claudius was favorable to the Jews in most of his reign, but it is supposed that trouble between jews and Christians in Rome caused such disturbance that Claudius banished all Jews from Rome. It was not from all Italy but only Rome from which they were driven. Later when Paul goes to Rome he finds they had again established themselves.
