And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.

1). When many Corinthians had hear that Crispus and his household received Christ, many Corinthians  followed. Apparently, the influence of Crispus in Corinth was great.

2). The Acts of the Apostles, Robert A. Tourville; Crispus is mentioned here and in 1 Corinthians 1:14. He was one of the few in Corinth who Paul baptized. He was a leader of the synagogue. The conversion of this man, with all his family was an important victory for the gospel at Corinth...The result was that many who were hearing were believing. This signifies a continuous growth in the number of Gentile believers. The term “being baptized” is an imperfect tense verb showing the baptizing was going on continuously.
