Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.

a. Beat [Strong: 3807 kathath kaw-thath' a primitive root; to bruise or violently strike:--beat (down, to pieces), break in pieces, crushed, destroy, discomfit, smite, stamp.]

b. [your] plowshares [Strong: 855 'eth ayth of uncertain derivation; a hoe or other digging implement:--coulter, plowshare.]

c. [into] swords [Strong: 2719 chereb kheh'-reb from 2717; drought; also a cutting instrument (from its destructive effect), as a knife, sword, or other sharp implement:--axe, dagger, knife, mattock, sword, tool.]

d. [and your] pruninghooks [Strong: 4211 mazmerah maz-may-raw' from 2168; a pruning-knife:--pruning-hook.]

i. strong [Strong: 1368 gibbowr ghib-bore' or (shortened) gibbor {ghib-bore'}; intensive from the same as 1397; powerful; by implication, warrior, tyrant:-- champion, chief, X excel, giant, man, mighty (man, one), strong (man), valiant man.]

1). Bob Yandian, Joel, The Outpouring of God’s Glory: “Let the weak say, i am strong.” Now we have usually heard this phrase used as a positive affirmation or confession by Christians to build courage and confidence or to overcome fear and timidity. But as you can see here, in its original context it was a challenge by God to His enemies to stand on their two feet and get ready to do battle with Him.

2). This is a quote from Isaiah and Micah.

a). Isaiah 2:1-4 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

2:2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.

2:3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

2:4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

(1) The context  for the Isaiah and Micah passages is after Christ has established his kingdom and all militaries around the world will be demanded by Christ to disband. Saints, we are not there yet. We should not be warmongers but we also should not disband our militaries now. Peace through strength.

b). Micah 4:1-3 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.

4:2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

4:3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
