Genesis 32:2
And when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God's host: and he called the name of that place Mahanaim.

1). Mahamim is plural. Stone Edition THE CHUMASH, Rabbinic Commentary: There were two camps of angels.
2). Yes, Jacob was distressed. But the LORD in His faithfulness to Jacob sent two camps of angels to assist and protect Jacob. I am reminded of Elisha and his servant when the Syrian army came to capture Elish. What the servant could not see before Elisha prayed was not only more numbers of soldiers, but immensely more powerful heavenly angel soldiers were surrounding to protect Elisha and his servant.
