 Judges 3:13

And he gathered unto him the children of Ammon and Amalek, and went and smote Israel, and possessed the city of palm trees.

1. “And he gathered unto him the children of Ammon and Amalek, and went and smote Israel…”

1). Ammonites were the offspring of Lot and his youngest daughter (Genesis 19:30-38). 


e. [and] Amalek [Strong: ʻĂmâlêq, am-aw-lake'; probably of foreign origin; Amalek, a descendant of Esau; also his posterity and their country:—Amalek.]


1). Amalek had giant DNA in him. Amalek was born to Timna and Eliphaz. Eliphaz was Esau’s son (Genesis 36:11, 12). Seir was a Horite, a giant (Deuteronomy 2:20-22). His son was Lotan, brother to Timna (Genesis 36:20-22). 


f. i. Israel [Strong: 3478 Yisrâʼêl, yis-raw-ale'; from H8280 and H410; he will rule as God; Jisraël, a symbolical name of Jacob; also (typically) of his posterity:—Israel.]


2. “...and possessed the city of palm trees.”


a. c. [the] city [Strong: 5892 ʻîyr, eer; or (in the plural) עָר ʻâr; or עָיַר ʻâyar; (Judges 10:4), from H5782 a city (a place guarded by waking or a watch) in the widest sense (even of a mere encampment or post):—Ai (from margin), city, court (from margin), town.]


d. [of] palm trees [Strong: 8558 tâmâr, taw-mawr'; from an unused root meaning to be erect; a palm tree:—palm (tree).]


1). Jericho. This is probably the newer city of Jericho. The old city had a curse pronounced upon it by Joshua (Joshua 6:26). The newer city was in existence during Christ’s ministry and exists to this day.
