 Nehemiah 7:1

Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,

2. “...and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,”

a. [and the] porters [Strong: 7778 shôwʻêr, sho-are'; or שֹׁעֵר shôʻêr active participle of H8176 (as denominative from H8179); a janitor:—doorkeeper, porter.]

b. [and the] singers [Strong: 7891 shîyr, sheer; or (the original form) שׁוּר shûwr; (1 Samuel 18:6), a primitive root (rather identical with H7788 through the idea of strolling minstrelsy); to sing:—behold (by mistake for H7789), sing(-er, -ing man, -ing woman).]

c. Levites [Strong: 3881 Lêvîyîy, lay-vee-ee'; or לֵוִי Lêvîy; patronymically from H3878; a Levite or descendant of Levi:—Levite.]

d.
