Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.

1). Israel is indeed the children of the prophets and children of the Covenant. Paul using different words says almost the same thing in Romans.

1). This is the gospel of salvation through Christ Jesus and Peter had at this time already received a revelation of this. Years later Paul would also write about this phrase as meaning the gospel.
a). Galatians 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
2). It was first promised at the initial calling of Abrahm in the early chapters of Genesis.
a). 1). Genesis 12:1-3 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
12:2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
3). Stephen ministered that this call took place when Abram still lived in Ur.
a). Acts 7:2-4 And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,
7:3 And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.
7:4 Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.
4). This promise was repeated two more times to Abraham.
a). Genesis 18:17, 18 And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do;
18:18Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
b). Genesis 22:15-18 And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
22:16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
22:17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
22:18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
5). It was also repeated once to Isaac and once to Jacob.
a). Genesis 26:4; Genesis 28:14.
6). The seed that the LORD God was referring to was Christ Jesus as Paul establishes in Galatians.
a). Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
