Mark 8:22, 23
And he
cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to
touch him.
And he
took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had
spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
1. And
he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town
a. He led the man out
of town because of the unbelief in the town would have prevented or hindered
the man from being healed.
1). Mark 5:40 And they
laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father
and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in
where the damsel was lying.
2). Mark 6:1-6 And he
went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow
him.
And when the sabbath
day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were
astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is
this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his
hands?
Is not this the
carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and
Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
But Jesus, said unto
them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his
own kin, and in his own house.
And he could there do
no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed
them.
And he marvelled
because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
a). It is a fact that
the unbelief of the people of Nazareth hindered Jesus from working miracles.
The text says, “he could do there no mighty work”, not “he would do not do any
mighty work”.
