Acts 2:24
Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

1. “Whom God hath raised up…”
a. Whom [Strong: 3739 hos hos, including feminine he hay, and neuter ho ho probably a primary word (or perhaps a form of the article 3588); the relatively (sometimes demonstrative) pronoun, who, which, what, that:--one, (an-, the) other, some, that, what, which, who(-m, -se), etc.]

2. “…having loosed the pains of death…”

1). Prophetic passages that refer to Christ Jesus during his suffering the pains of death in hell before they were loosed when the sin debt was paid and we were declared righteous and He was raised from the dead. The pains of death and comparative Old Testament verses.
a). Psalm 18:4-6 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.
18:5 The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.
18:6 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.
b). Psalm 88:1-8 O lord God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before thee:

2). When Christ was quickened in the depths of the earth we were quickened with him.

3. “…because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.”

1). After the sin debt was paid it was not possible for the pains of death to continue to hold Him because it was our sin that took Him there. Once the sin penalty was paid death could no longer hold Him.
a). Isaiah 53:9-11 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
53:10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
2). Only a few translations put it in the light that Christ Jesus was raised after the penalty was paid. When we were declared righteous Jesus came out of the ground.
a). Romans 4:25 [YLT] who was delivered up because of our offences, and was raised up because of our being declared righteous.
b). Romans 4:25 [NASB] He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification.
c). Romans 4:25 [NKJV] who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.
