Ezekiel 36:25

Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

a. NLT: “Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. Your filth will be washed away, and you will no longer worship idols.

b. NIV: I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols.

c. YLT: And I have sprinkled over you clean water, And ye have been clean; From all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols, I do cleanse you.

d. Amplified Bible: Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleanness; and from all your idols will I cleanse you.

e. Septuagint: and I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be purged from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols, and I will cleanse you.

1. “Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean…”

a. then I will sprinkle [Strong: 2236 :zâraq, zaw-rak'; a primitive root; to sprinkle (fluid or solid particles):—be here and there, scatter, sprinkle, strew.]

1). There were two Hebrew words used for “sprinkle” in the establishment of the ceremonial practices such as the sacrifices and the priesthood. The first is the above Hebrew word [2236 * zaraq]  Examples of which are the following, which is used many times: 

a). Exodus 24:8 And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.

b). Exodus 29:20 Then shalt thou kill the ram, and take of his blood, and put it upon the tip of the right ear of Aaron, and upon the tip of the right ear of his sons, and upon the thumb of their right hand, and upon the great toe of their right foot, and sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about.

2). Another Hebrew word used interchangeably with zaraq is [Strong: 5137 nazah naw-zaw' a primitive root; to spirt, i.e. besprinkle (especially in expiation):--sprinkle.:] It was also used to describe the establishment of practices such as the sacrifices and the priesthood. Here are a few examples:

a). Exodus 29:21 And thou shalt take of the blood that is upon the altar, and of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon the garments of his sons with him: and he shall be hallowed, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons' garments with him.

b). Leviticus 5:9 And he shall sprinkle of the blood of the sin offering upon the side of the altar; and the rest of the blood shall be wrung out at the bottom of the altar: it is a sin offering.

3). The Hebrew word nazah #5137 used in Leviticus 5:9 and Exodus 29:21 is also used in the powerful prophetic Messianic passage of Isaiah 52:13-53:12 foretelling of the substitutionary redemptive death of Christ Jesus. The particular verse where it is used is foretelling of the preaching of the gospel to the nations of the world. I see a similarity of its use here in Ezekiel 36:25 speaking of the cleansing and rebirth of Israel and its use in Isaiah 52 speaking of the cleansing and rebirth of the peoples of the nations.

a). Isaiah 52:15 So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider.

b. clean [Strong: 2889 tahowr taw-hore' or tahor {taw-hore'}; from 2891; pure (in a physical, chemical, ceremonial or moral sense):--clean, fair, pure(-ness).]

c. water [Strong: 4325 mayim mah'-yim; dual of a primitive noun (but used in a singular sense); water; figuratively, juice; by euphemism, urine, semen:--+ piss, wasting, water(-ing, (-course, -flood, -spring)).]

d. upon [you] [Strong: 5921 `al al properly, the same as 5920 used as a preposition (in the singular or plural often with prefix, or as conjunction with a particle following); above, over, upon, or against (yet always in this last relation with a downward aspect) in a great variety of applications (as follow):--above, according to(-ly), after, (as) against, among, and, X as, at, because of, beside (the rest of), between, beyond the time, X both and, by (reason of), X had the charge of, concerning for, in (that), (forth, out) of, (from) (off), (up-)on, over, than, through(-out), to, touching, X with.]

e. [and ye shall be] clean [Strong: 2891 taher taw-hare'  a primitive root; properly, to be bright; i.e. (by implication) to be pure (physical sound, clear, unadulterated; Levitically, uncontaminated; morally, innocent or holy):--be (make, make self, pronounce) clean, cleanse (self), purge, purify(-ier, self).]

2. “…from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.”

a. [from] all [Strong: 3605 kol kole or (Jer. 33:8) kowl {kole}; from 3634; properly, the whole; hence, all, any or every (in the singular only, but often in a plural sense):--(in) all (manner, (ye)), altogether, any (manner), enough, every (one, place, thing), howsoever, as many as, (no-)thing, ought, whatsoever, (the) whole, whoso(-ever).]

b. [your] filthiness [Strong: 2932 tum'ah toom-aw'  from 2930; religious impurity:--filthiness, unclean(-ness).]

c. [and from] all [Strong: 3605 kol kole or (Jer. 33:8) kowl {kole}; from 3634; properly, the whole; hence, all, any or every (in the singular only, but often in a plural sense):--(in) all (manner, (ye)), altogether, any (manner), enough, every (one, place, thing), howsoever, as many as, (no-)thing, ought, whatsoever, (the) whole, whoso(-ever).]

d. [your] idols [Strong: 1544 gilluwl ghil-lool' or (shortened) gillul {ghil-lool'}; from 1556; properly, a log (as round); by implication, an idol:--idol.]

e. will I cleanse you [2891 * taher] [Strong: a primitive root; properly, to be bright; i.e. (by implication) to be pure (physical sound, clear, unadulterated; Levitically, uncontaminated; morally, innocent or holy):--be (make, make self, pronounce) clean, cleanse (self), purge, purify(-ier, self).]

f. you [Strong: 853 'eth ayth apparent contracted from 226 in the demonstrative sense of entity; properly, self (but generally used to point out more definitely the object of a verb or preposition, even or namely):--(as such unrepresented in English).]
