10:14
And whosoever shall not receive
you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off
the dust of your feet.
a. NLT: If any household or town
refuses to welcome you or listen to your message, shake its dust from your feet
as you leave.
b. NIV: If anyone
will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake
the dust off your feet.
c. YLT: 'And
whoever may not receive you nor hear your words, coming forth from that house
or city, shake off the dust of your feet,

not receive and accept and welcome you nor

receive you, nor hear your words…”

2. “…when ye depart out of that
house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.”

1). It is recorded in Acts that Paul
did this twice. It seems to me that it was primarily directed at the Jews.
a). Acts 13:45-52 But when the Jews
saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things
which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.
13:46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed
bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been
spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of
everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.
13:47 For so hath the Lord commanded
us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest
be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.
13:48 And when the Gentiles heard
this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were
ordained to eternal life believed.
13:49 And the word of the Lord was
published throughout all the region.
13:50 But the Jews stirred up the
devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised
persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.
13:51 But they shook off the dust of
their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.
13:52 And the disciples were filled
with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.
b. Acts 18:1-6 After these things Paul
departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;
18:2 And found a certain Jew named
Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla;
(because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came
unto them.
18:3 And because he was of the same
craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.
18:4 And he reasoned in the synagogue
every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
18:5 And when Silas and Timotheus were
come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews
that Jesus was Christ.
18:6 And when they opposed themselves,
and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon
your own heads; I am clean; from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.
