 James 3:15

This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

1. “This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.”


a. This [Strong: hoûtos, hoo'-tos; from the article G3588 and G846; the he (she or it), i.e. this or that (often with article repeated):—he (it was that), hereof, it, she, such as, the same, these, they, this (man, same, woman), which, who.]

1). D.C.: If we embrace bitter envying and strife in our spirit man, we are lying against the truth. We are choosing to walk, and believe the father of lies (John 8:44) rather than our Father God. The decisions and choices we make in that condition will only result in misery. We will also be blinded from the leading of the Holy Ghost.


a). James 3:14-16 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

3:15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

3:16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.


b). 1 Corinthians 2:7-10 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

2:8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
