Hebrews 6:15

Hebrews 6:15

And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

a. NLT: Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised.

b. NIV: And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.

c. YLT: and so, having patiently endured, he did obtain the promise;

d. Amplified Bible:  Saying, Blessing I certainly will bless you and multiplying I will multiply you.

e. Worrell Translation: And thus, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

1. “And so, after he had patiently endured…”

a. and [2532 * kai] [Strong: apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.]

b. so [3779 * houto] [Strong: or (before a vowel houtos hoo'-toce adverb from 3778; in this way (referring to what precedes or follows):--after that, after (in) this manner, as, even (so), for all that, like(-wise), no more, on this fashion(-wise), so (in like manner), thus, what.]

c. after he had patiently endured [3114 * makrothumeo] [Strong: rom the same as 3116; to be long-spirited, i.e. (objectively) forbearing or (subjectively) patient:--bear (suffer) long, be longsuffering, have (long) patience, be patient, patiently endure.]

2. “…he obtained the promise.”

a. he obtained [2114 * epitugchano] [Strong: from 1909 and 5177; to chance upon, i.e. (by implication) to attain:--obtain.]

b. the promise [1860 * epaggelia] [Strong: from 1861; an announcement (for information, assent or pledge; especially a divine assurance of good):--message, promise.]
