Galatians 5:4

Galatians 5:4

Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

a. NLT: For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.

b. NIV: You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.

c. YLT: ye were freed from the Christ, ye who in law are declared righteous; from the grace ye fell away;

d. Amplified Bible Classic: If you seek to be justified and declared righteous and to be given a right standing with God through the Law, you are brought to nothing andso separated (severed) from Christ. You have fallen away from grace (from God’s gracious favor and unmerited blessing).

e. Worrell Translation: Ye were separated from Christ, whoever of you are being justified by law; ye fell out of grace.

f. by [1722 * en] [Strong: a primary preposition denoting (fixed) position (in place, time or state), and (by implication) instrumentality (medially or constructively), i.e. a relation of rest (intermediate between 1519 and 1537); "in," at, (up-)on, by, etc.:--about, after, against, + almost, X altogether, among, X as, at, before, between, (here-)by (+ all means), for (... sake of), + give self wholly to, (here-)in(-to, -wardly), X mightily, (because) of, (up-)on, (open-)ly, X outwardly, one, X quickly, X shortly, (speedi-)ly, X that, X there(-in, -on), through(-out), (un-)to(-ward), under, when, where(-with), while, with(-in). 1). Paul preached the opposite.

a). Acts 13:38, 39 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

1). We cannot rely on works of obedience to save us. It is only through believeing and receiving what Christ di for us at the cross that justifies us.

a). Romans 3:21-24  But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
