Romans 4:2
For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to
glory; but not before God.
a. NLT: If his good deeds had made
him acceptable to God, he would have had something to boast about. But that was
not God’s way.

justified by works, he had something to boast about—but not before God.
