Romans 11:15

For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?

a. NLT: For since their rejection meant that God offered salvation to the rest of the world, their acceptance will be even more wonderful. It will be life for those who were dead!

b. NIV: For if their rejection brought reconciliation to the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?

c. YLT: for if the casting away of them is a reconciliation of the world, what the reception -- if not life out of the dead?

d. Amplified Bible Classic: For if their rejection and exclusion from the benefits of salvation were [overruled] for the reconciliation of a world to God, what will their acceptance and admission mean? [It will be nothing short of] life from the dead!

e. Worrell Translation: For, ifthe casting away of them is the reconcilingof the world, what will the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?

f. Wuest Translation: For, in view of the fact that their repudiation results in the world’s reconciliation, what will the receiving of them result in if not life from among the dead?

1. “For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world…”

a. For [Strong: 1063 gar gar a primary particle; properly, assigning a reason (used in argument, explanation or intensification; often with other particles):--and, as, because (that), but, even, for, indeed, no doubt, seeing, then, therefore, verily, what, why, yet.]

b. if [Strong: 1487 ei i a primary particle of conditionality; if, whether, that, etc.:--forasmuch as, if, that, (al-)though, whether.]

c. the casting away [Strong: 580 apobole ap-ob-ol-ay' from 577; rejection; figuratively, loss:--casting away, loss.]

d. of them [Strong: 846 autos ow-tos' from the particle au (perhaps akin to the base of 109 through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative 1438) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons:--her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which.]

e. be the reconciling [Strong: 2643 katallage kat-al-lag-ay' from 2644; exchange (figuratively, adjustment), i.e. restoration to (the divine) favor:--atonement, reconciliation(-ing).]

f. of the world [Strong: 2889 kosmos kos'-mos probably from the base of 2865; orderly arrangement, i.e. decoration; by implication, the world (in a wide or narrow sense, including its inhabitants, literally or figuratively (morally)):--adorning, world.]

2. “…what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?”

a. what [Strong: 5101 5101 tis tis probably emphatic of 5100; an interrogative pronoun, who, which or what (in direct or indirect questions):--every man, how (much), + no(-ne, thing), what (manner, thing), where (-by, -fore, -of, -unto, - with, -withal), whether, which, who(-m, -se), why.]

b. [shall] the [Strong: 3588 ho ho, including the feminine he hay, and the neuter to to in all their inflections; the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.]

c. receiving [of them be] [Strong: 4356 proslepsis pros'-lape-sis from 4355; admission:--receiving.]

d. but [Strong: 1508 ei me i may from 1487 and 3361; if not:--but, except (that), if not, more than, save (only) that, saving, till.]

e. life [Strong: 2222 zoe dzo-ay' from 2198; life (literally or figuratively):--life(-time).]

g. the dead [Strong: 3498 nekros nek-ros' from an apparently primary nekus (a corpse); dead (literally or figuratively; also as noun):--dead.]

1). Paul is saying the reuniting of Israel with their God is going to be like life from the dead compared to what it was before.
