Romans 11:26
And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There
shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from
Jacob:
a. NLT: And so all Israel will be
saved. As the Scriptures say, “The one who rescues will come from Jerusalem,
and he will turn Israel away from ungodliness.
b. NIV: And in this way all Israel
will be saved. As it is written: “The deliverer will come from Zion; he will
turn godlessness away from Jacob.
c. YLT: And so all Israel shall be
saved, according as it hath been written, 'There shall come forth out of Sion
he who is delivering, and he shall turn away impiety from Jacob,
d. Amplified Bible Classic: And so
all Israel will be saved. As it is written, The Deliverer will come from Zion,
He will banish ungodliness from Jacob.

1. “And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written…”
a. And [Strong: 2532 kai kahee
apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a
cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection

e. shall be saved [Strong: 4982 sozo
sode'-zo from a primary sos (contraction for obsolete saos,
"safe"); to save, i.e. deliver or protect (literally or
figuratively):--heal, preserve, save (self), do well, be (make) whole.]
f. as [Strong: 2531 kathos kath-oce'
from 2596 and 5613; just (or inasmuch) as, that:--according to, (according,
even) as, how, when.]
g. it is written [Strong: 1125 grapho
graf'-o a primary verb; to "grave", especially to write;
figuratively, to describe:--describe, write(-ing, -ten).]
1). This is referring to the nation
of Israel at the return of Christ, every Jew who is still alive will be saved. In
the time period immediately leading up to the return of Christ the Jewish
people will be the target of extermination by the Anti-Christ in which two
thirds of the nation will be killed.
a). Zechariah 13:8, 9 And it shall
come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be
cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.
13:9 And I will bring the third
part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try
them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will
say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.
2). During this same time God will
reveal to Israel that their rescuer is also their Messiah Jesus, the person
they rejected 2000 years previously.
a). Zechariah 12:10-14 And I will
pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit
of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have
pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and
shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
12:11 In that day shall there be a
great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of
Megiddon.
12:12 And the land shall mourn,
every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives
apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart;
12:13 The family of the house of
Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of Shimei apart, and their wives
apart;
12:14 All the families that
remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.
3). Because of that loss of life
the following passages have the similar language, “he that is left” etc., yet
all refer to the same devastating loss of life.
a). Isaiah 10:20-22 And it shall
come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped
of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but
shall stay upon the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.
10:21 The remnant shall return,
even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.
10:22 For though thy people Israel
be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption
decreed shall overflow with righteousness.
b). Isaiah 4:3 And it shall come
to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem,
shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem:
c). Romans 9:27, 28 Esaias also
crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the
sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:
9:28 For he will finish the work,
and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon
the earth.
4). During this time the entire
nation will be saved.
a). Ezekiel 36:25-28 Then will I
sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness,
and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
36:26 A new heart also will I give
you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony
heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
36:27 And I will put my spirit
within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my
judgments, and do them.
36:28 And ye shall dwell in the
land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your
God.
2. “…There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall
turn away ungodliness from Jacob:”

1). Paul is quoting here from Isaiah
59.
a). Isaiah 59:20 And the Redeemer
shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith
the Lord.
b). The next verse is also a quote
from isaiah 59.
2). The turning away of ungodliness
will be a result of the nation being born again.
