Genesis 3:12

And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

a. NLT: The man replied, “It was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it.”

b. NIV: The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”

2. “…and I did eat.”

a. and I did eat [Strong: 398 'akal aw-kal' a primitive root; to eat (literally or figuratively):--X at all, burn up, consume, devour(-er, up), dine, eat(-er, up), feed (with), food, X freely, X in...wise(-deed, plenty), (lay) meat, X quite.]

1). We must remember that Adam was given a direct command from God to not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

a). Genesis 2:16, 17 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

2). It is for that very reason we have the stamen by Paul in 1 Timothy.

a). 1 Timothy 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

b). Adam was not deceived, he knew exactly what he was doing. Eve was deceived, Adam was not. The greater responsibility was upon Adam.
