Gordon Lindsay, The Life and Teachings of Christ: As Jesus left the city of Jericho and drew nigh to Jerusalem…he felt it was necessary to disabuse the minds of the people of this declaration in which they supposed that the Kingdom of God was about to appear. He had to show both the multitude and His disciples that he was not then going up to Jerusalem to sit on a throne.. In order to correct their expectations, He gave them the Parable of the Pounds, which assured them that the Kingdom of God would come, though the time was not immediately. Many events were to transpire before the kingdom would be outwardly manifested.
2). Gordon Lindsay, The Life and Teachings of Christ: The nobleman is without doubt Christ. Being born of the Spirit of God of a virgin. He was of noble rank. As the Son of David through Mary, He was to sit on the throne of David and reign forever.

3). Don Costello: The nobleman going into a far country and then returning is the ascension of Christ to the right hand of God, with the church age in between and then his return at the end of the age.
