John 17:11
And now I am no more in the world, but these are in
the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those
whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

the world; they are staying in this world, but I am coming to you. Holy Father,
you have given me your name; now protect them by the power of your name so
that they will be united just as we are.
b. NIV: I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the

1). The prayer the we would be one with God and Jesus as they are one
is prayed 3 times in this chapter, here in John 17:11 and two other times.
a). John 17:21-23 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in
me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe
that thou hast sent me.
17:22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they
may be one, even as we are one:
17:23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one;
and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as
thou hast loved me.
2). The main purpose for this repeated phrase is to emphasize God’s
desire to have intimate relationship with us.
