1. “What shall we then say to these things?...”
a. what [5101 * tis] [Strong: probably
emphatic of 5100; an interrogative pronoun, who, which or what (in direct or
indirect questions):--every man, how (much), + no(-ne, thing), what (manner,
thing), where (-by, -fore, -of, -unto, - with, -withal), whether, which,
who(-m, -se), why.]
b. shall we…say [2046 * ereo]
[Strong: probably a fuller form of 4483; an alternate for 2036 in certain
tenses; to utter, i.e. speak or say:--call, say, speak (of), tell.]
c. then [3767 * oun] [Strong: apparently
a primary word; (adverbially) certainly, or (conjunctionally) accordingly:--and
(so, truly), but, now (then), so (likewise then), then, therefore, verily,
wherefore.]
d. to [4314 * pros] [Strong: a
strengthened form of 4253; a preposition of direction; forward to, i.e. toward
(with the genitive case, the side of, i.e. pertaining to; with the dative case,
by the side of, i.e. near to; usually with the accusative case, the place,
time, occasion, or respect, which is the destination of the relation, i.e.
whither or for which it is predicated):--about, according to , against, among,
at, because of, before, between, (where-)by, for, X at thy house, in, for
intent, nigh unto, of, which pertain to, that, to (the end that), X together,
to (you) -ward, unto, with(-in). In the comparative case, it denotes
essentially the same applications, namely, motion towards, accession to, or
nearness at.]
e. these things [5023 * tauta]
[Strong: nominative or accusative case neuter plural of 3778; these things:--+
afterward, follow, + hereafter, X him, the same, so, such, that, then, these,
they, this, those, thus.]
2. “…If God be for us, who can be against
us?”
a. if [1487 * ei] [Strong: a
primary particle of conditionality; if, whether, that, etc.:--forasmuch as, if,
that, (al-)though, whether.]
b. God [2316 * theos] [Strong: of
uncertain affinity; a deity, especially (with 3588) the supreme Divinity;
figuratively, a magistrate; by Hebraism, very:--X exceeding, God, god(-ly,
-ward).]
c. be for [5228 * huper] [Strong: a
primary preposition; "over", i.e. (with the genitive case) of place,
above, beyond, across, or causal, for the sake of, instead, regarding; with the
accusative case superior to, more than:--(+ exceeding, abundantly) above, in
(on) behalf of, beyond, by, + very chiefest, concerning, exceeding (above,
-ly), for, + very highly, more (than), of, over, on the part of, for sake of,
in stead, than, to(-ward), very. In the comparative, it retains many of the
above applications.]
d. us [2257 * hemon] [Strong: genitive
case plural of 1473; of (or from) us:--our (company), us, we.]
e. who [5101 * tis] [Strong: probably
emphatic of 5100; an interrogative pronoun, who, which or what (in direct or
indirect questions):--every man, how (much), + no(-ne, thing), what (manner,
thing), where (-by, -fore, -of, -unto, - with, -withal), whether, which,
who(-m, -se), why.]
f. can be [2596 * kata] [Strong: a
primary particle; (prepositionally) down (in place or time), in varied
relations (according to the case (genitive, dative or accusative) with which it
is joined):--about, according as (to), after, against, (when they were) X
alone, among, and, X apart, (even, like) as (concerning, pertaining to
touching), X aside, at, before, beyond, by, to the charge of, (charita-)bly,
concerning, + covered, (dai-)ly, down, every, (+ far more) exceeding, X more
excellent, for, from ... to, godly, in(-asmuch, divers, every, -to, respect
of), ... by, after the manner of, + by any means, beyond (out of) measure, X
mightily, more, X natural, of (up-)on (X part), out (of every), over against,
(+ your) X own, + particularly, so, through(-oughout, -oughout every), thus,
(un-)to(-gether, -ward), X uttermost, where(-by), with. In composition it
retains many of these applications, and frequently denotes opposition,
distribution, or intensity.]
