John 17:19
And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they
also might be sanctified through the truth.

1. “And for their sakes I sanctify myself…”

1). Jesus was an orthodox Jew and walked faithfully in the Law of
Moses. What ever the Law of Moses required for sanctification, Jesus was
faithful to be obedient
a). Romans 15:8 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision
for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:
b). Jesus lived his live as an observant Jew, there were instances
during his live that he became unclean according to the Law. It does not mean
he sinned in any way, but I’m fully persuaded that whatever was required to fulfil
the law, he was obedient.
2). When he healed people he instructed them to go what the Law of Moses
required them to do.
a). Matthew 8:2-4 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him,
saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
8:3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I
will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
8:4 And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way,
shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a
testimony unto them.

1). Being obedient to the word of God will result in sanctification.
a). Psalm 119:9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by
taking heed thereto according to thy word.
b). Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance
of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies
washed with pure water.
