Hebrews 10:4

For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

1. “For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.”

a. For [Strong: 1063 gár, gar; a primary particle; properly, assigning a reason (used in argument, explanation or intensification; often with other particles):—and, as, because (that), but, even, for, indeed, no doubt, seeing, then, therefore, verily, what, why, yet.]

b. it is not possible [Strong: 102 adýnatos, ad-oo'-nat-os; from G1 (as a negative particle) and G1415; unable, i.e. weak (literally or figuratively); passively, impossible:—could not do, impossible, impotent, not possible, weak.]

c. [that the] blood [Strong: 129 haîma, hah'-ee-mah; of uncertain derivation; blood, literally (of men or animals), figuratively (the juice of grapes) or specially (the atoning blood of Christ); by implication, bloodshed, also kindred:—blood.]

i. sins sins [Strong: 266 hamartía, ham-ar-tee'-ah; from G264; a sin (properly abstract):—offence, sin(-ful).]

  

1). It is for this reason that the LORD could not be pleased by all these sacrifices, because the sin problem would continue, which is exactly what the next few verses declare. It was only through the sacrifice of Christ Jesus that the sin problem was taken care of, and it was in that sacrifice that God was pleased

a). Hebrews 10:5, 6 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

10:6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

b). Isaiah 53:10, 11 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
