Hebrews 10:6
In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
a. ASV: In whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hadst no pleasure:
b. YLT: In burnt-offerings, and concerning sin-offerings, Thou didst not delight,
d. Amplified Bible Classic: In burnt offerings and sin offerings You have taken no delight.
1. “In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.”
a. [In] burnt offerings [Strong: 3646 holokaútōma, hol-ok-ow'-to-mah; from a derivative of a compound of G3650 and a derivative of G2545; a wholly-consumed sacrifice ("holocaust"):—(whole) burnt offering.]
b. and [sacrifices] [Strong: 2532 kaí, kahee; apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:—and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.]
c. for [Strong: 4012 perí, per-ee'; from the base of G4008; properly, through (all over), i.e. around; figuratively with respect to; used in various applications, of place, cause or time (with the genitive case denoting the subject or occasion or superlative point; with the accusative case the locality, circuit, matter, circumstance or general period):—(there-)about, above, against, at, on behalf of, × and his company, which concern, (as) concerning, for, × how it will go with, ((there-, where-)) of, on, over, pertaining (to), for sake, × (e-)state, (as) touching, (where-)by (in), with. In comparative, it retains substantially the same meaning of circuit (around), excess (beyond), or completeness (through).]
d. sin [Strong: 266 hamartía, ham-ar-tee'-ah; from G264; a sin (properly abstract):—offence, sin(-ful).]
e. [thou has had] no [Strong: 3756 ou, oo; a primary word; the absolute negative (compare G3361) adverb; no or not:—+ long, nay, neither, never, no (X man), none, (can-)not, + nothing, + special, un(-worthy), when, + without, + yet but.]
f. pleasure [Strong: 2106 eudokéō, yoo-dok-eh'-o; from G2095 and G1380; to think well of, i.e. approve (an act); specially, to approbate (a person or thing):—think good, (be well) please(-d), be the good (have, take) pleasure, be willing.]
1). The reason for God having no pleasure in these sacrifices is because the sin problem was not taken care of, their sin was just forgiven and covered. It was the best of a situation until God could forever deal with the sin problem by the sacrifice of Jesus.
a). Isaiah 53:10, 11 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
