Hebrews 12:8

But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

a. ASV: But if ye are without chastening, whereof all have been made partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

  

b. YLT: And if ye are apart from chastening, of which all have become partakers, then bastards are ye, and not sons.

d. Amplified Bible Classic: Now if you are exempt from correction and left without discipline in which all [of God’s children] share, then you are illegitimate offspring and not true sons [at all].

1. “But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers…”

a. But dé, deh; a primary particle (adversative or continuative); but, and, etc.:—also, and, but, moreover, now (often unexpressed in English).]

d. without [Strong: 5565 chōrís, kho-rece'; adverb from G5561; at a space, i.e. separately or apart from (often as preposition):—beside, by itself, without.]

e. chastisement [Strong: 3809 paideía, pahee-di'-ah; from G3811; tutorage, i.e. education or training; by implication, disciplinary correction:—chastening, chastisement, instruction, nurture.]

  

f. whereof [Strong: 3739 hós, hos; probably a primary word (or perhaps a form of the article G3588); the relatively (sometimes demonstrative) pronoun, who, which, what, that:—one, (an-, the) other, some, that, what, which, who(-m, -se), etc.]

g. all [Strong: 3956 pâs, pas; including all the forms of declension; apparently a primary word; all, any, every, the whole:—all (manner of, means), alway(-s), any (one), × daily, + ever, every (one, way), as many as, + no(-thing), X thoroughly, whatsoever, whole, whosoever.]

I.  partakers [Strong: 3353 métochos, met'-okh-os; from G3348; participant, i.e. (as noun) a sharer; by implication, an associate:—fellow, partaker, partner.]

  

2. “...then are ye bastards, and not sons.”

a. then [Strong: 686 ára, ar'-ah; probably from G142 (through the idea of drawing a conclusion); a particle denoting an inference more or less decisive (as follows):—haply, (what) manner (of man), no doubt, perhaps, so be, then, therefore, truly, wherefore. Often used in connection with other particles, especially G1065 or G3767 (after) or G1487 (before).]

b. [are] ye [Strong: 2075 esté, es-teh'; second person plural present indicative of G1510; ye are:—be, have been, belong.]

c. bastards [Strong: 3541 nóthos, noth'-os; of uncertain affinity; a spurious or illegitimate son:—bastard.]

d. and [Strong: 2532 kaí, kahee; apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:—and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.]

e. not [Strong: 3756 ou, oo; a primary word; the absolute negative (compare G3361) adverb; no or not:—+ long, nay, neither, never, no (X man), none, (can-)not, + nothing, + special, un(-worthy), when, + without, + yet but.]

  

f. sons [Strong: 5207 huiós, hwee-os'; apparently a primary word; a "son" (sometimes of animals), used very widely of immediate, remote or figuratively, kinship:—child, foal, son.]
