1). Looking at a map they travelled almost 400 miles one way. Moody Atlas of the Bible has the spies travelling about 50 miles north of Damascus. This kind of reconnaissance would easily take 40 days. Going up through Hebron they would see the giant sons of Anak. They also brought back some of the fruits of the land, figs and pomegranates. One cluster of grapes was so large it had to be carried by two men.
