Numbers 33:52
Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places:

1. “Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you…”

h. images [Strong: 6754 tselem, tseh'-lem; from an unused root meaning to shade; a phantom, i.e. (figuratively) illusion, resemblance; hence, a representative figure, especially an idol:—image, vain shew.]
1). Most of what he was referring to was religious in nature. Their whole culture was wrapped up in their religion. But it was an ungodly religion. Their culture was very sexual in nature. They practiced incest, male and female homosexuality, child sacrifice, and bestiality. The list in Leviticus 18:1-30.
2). The culture was also very occultic. They practiced witchcraft, consulted with demonic spirits, used spells. The list is given in Deuteronomy 18:9-14.
3). Israel was commanded to destroy all their culture that was contrary to the things of God.
3. “...and quite pluck down all their high places:”

d. [their] high places [Strong: 1116 bâmâh, bam-maw'; from an unused root (meaning to be high); an elevation:—height, high place, wave.]
1). They were commanded to destroy all their high places, which were of course where they did their sacrificing to their false gods. In the New Covenant we can be held captive by strongholds of the enemy in our life when we do not renew our minds in obedience to the word of God. They were also commanded to destroy their all their images, drawings, molten images of their culture.
