1 Chronicles 2:16

Whose sisters were Zeruiah, and Abigail. And the sons of Zeruiah; Abishai, and Joab, and Asahel, three.

a. ASV:  And their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. And the sons of Zeruiah: Abishai, and Joab, and Asahel, three.

1. “Whose sisters were Zeruiah, and Abigail…”

a. Whose sisters [Strong: 269 ʼâchôwth, aw-khoth'; irregular feminine of H251; a sister (used very widely [like H251 number H250, corrected to H251], literally and figuratively):—(an-) other, sister, together.] [The KJV translates Strong's H269 in the following manner: sister(s) (106x), another (6x), together with (with H802) (1x), other (1x).]

b. [were] Zeruiah [Strong: 6870 Tsᵉrûwyâh, tser-oo-yaw'; feminine passive participle from the same as H6875; wounded; Tserujah, an Israelitess:—Zeruiah.] [The KJV translates Strong's H6870 in the following manner: Zeruiah (26x).]

c. [and] Abigail [Strong: 26 ʼĂbîygayil, ab-ee-gah'-yil; or shorter אֲבִיגַל ʼĂbîygal; from H1 and H1524; father (i.e. source) of joy; Abigail or Abigal, the name of two Israelitesses:—Abigal.] [The KJV translates Strong's H26 in the following manner: Abigail (17x).]

2. “...And the sons of Zeruiah; Abishai, and Joab, and Asahel, three.”

d. [and] Joab [Strong: 3097 Yôwʼâb, yo-awb'; from H3068 and H1; Jehovah-fathered; Joab, the name of three Israelites:—Joab.] [The KJV translates Strong's H3097 in the following manner: Joab (145x).]

e. [and] Asahel [Strong: 6214 ʻĂsâhʼêl, as-aw-ale'; from H6213 and H410; God has made; Asahel, the name of four Israelites:—Asahel.] [The KJV translates Strong's H6214 in the following manner: Asahel (18x).]

1). All three of these men as well as the one mentioned in the next verse play roles in the life of David in 2 Samuel. All four of them were his nephews, die both Zeruiah and Abigail were his sisters.
