Acts 13:38

Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

a. NLT: Brothers, listen! We are here to proclaim that through this man Jesus there is forgiveness for your sins.

b. NIV: “Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.

c. YLT: 'Let it therefore be known to you, men, brethren, that through this one to you is the forgiveness of sins declared,

d. Amplified Bible Classic: So let it be clearly known and understood by you, brethren, that through this Man forgiveness and removal of sins is now proclaimed to you;

e. Worrell Translation: Be it known to you, brethren, that through This One is proclaimed to you the forgiveness of sins.

1. “Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren…”

a. Be it [Strong: 2077 * esto es'-to second person singular present imperative of 1510; be thou; also estosan es'-to-san, third person of the same let them be:--be.]

b. known [Strong: 1110 * gnostos gnoce-tos' from 1097; well-known:--acquaintance, (which may be) known, notable.]

c. unto you [5213 * humin hoo-min' irregular dative case of 5210; to (with or by) you:--ye, you, your(-selves).]

d. therefore [Strong: 3767 * oun oon apparently a primary word; (adverbially) certainly, or (conjunctionally) accordingly:--and (so, truly), but, now (then), so (likewise then), then, therefore, verily, wherefore.]

e. men [Strong: 435 * aner an'-ayr a primary word (compare 444); a man (properly as an individual male):--fellow, husband, man, sir.]

f. and brothers [Strong: 80 * adephos ad-el-fos' from 1 (as a connective particle) and delphus (the womb); a brother (literally or figuratively) near or remote (much like 1):--brother.]

2. “…that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:”

a. that [Strong: 3754 * hoti hot'-ee neuter of 3748 as conjunction; demonstrative, that (sometimes redundant); causative, because:--as concerning that, as though, because (that), for (that), how (that), (in) that, though, why.]

b. through [Strong: 1223 * dia dee-ah' a primary preposition denoting the channel of an act; through (in very wide applications, local, causal, or occasional):--after, always, among, at, to avoid, because of (that), briefly, by, for (cause) ... fore, from, in, by occasion of, of, by reason of, for sake, that, thereby, therefore, X though, through(-out), to, wherefore, with (-in). In composition it retains the same general importance.]

c. this man [Strong: 5127 * toutou too'-too genitive case singular masculine or neuter of 3778; of (from or concerning) this (person or thing):--here(-by), him, it, + such manner of, that, thence(-forth), thereabout, this, thus.]

d. is preached [Strong: 2605 * kataggello kat-ang-gel'-lo from 2596 and the base of 32; to proclaim, promulgate:--declare, preach, shew, speak of, teach.]

e. unto you [Strong: 5213 * humin hoo-min' irregular dative case of 5210; to (with or by) you:--ye, you, your(-selves).]

f. the forgiveness [Strong: 859 * aphesis af'-es-is from 863; freedom; (figuratively) pardon:--deliverance, forgiveness, liberty, remission.]

g. of sins [Strong: 266 * hamartia ham-ar-tee'-ah from 264; a sin (properly abstract):--offence, sin(-ful).]
