Romans 6:5
For if we have been
planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness
of his resurrection:
1. “For if we have
been planted together in the likeness of his death…”
a. For [Strong: 1063 gar gar a primary particle; properly,
assigning a reason (used in argument, explanation or intensification; often
with other particles):--and, as, because (that), but, even, for, indeed, no
doubt, seeing, then, therefore, verily, what, why, yet.]
b. if [Strong: 1487 ei i a primary particle of
conditionality; if, whether, that, etc.:--forasmuch as, if, that, (al-)though,
whether. Often used in connection or composition with other particles,
especially as in 1489, 1490, 1499, 1508, 1509, 1512, 1513, 1536, 1537.]
c. we have been [Strong: 1096 ginomai ghin'-om-ahee a
prolongation and middle voice form of a primary verb; to cause to be
("gen"-erate), i.e. (reflexively) to become (come into being), used
with great latitude (literal, figurative, intensive, etc.):--arise, be
assembled, be(-come, -fall, -have self), be brought (to pass), (be) come (to
pass), continue, be divided, draw, be ended, fall, be finished, follow, be
found, be fulfilled, + God forbid, grow, happen, have, be kept, be made, be
married, be ordained to be, partake, pass, be performed, be published, require,
seem, be showed, X soon as it was, sound, be taken, be turned, use, wax, will,
would, be wrought.]
d. planted together [Strong: 4854 sumphutos soom'-foo-tos
from 4862 and a derivative of 5453; grown along with (connate), i.e.
(figuratively) closely united to:--planted together.]
e. in the [Strong: 3588 ho ho, including the feminine he
hay, and the neuter to to in all their inflections; the definite article; the
(sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this,
that, one, he, she, it, etc.]
f. likeness [Strong: 3767 oun oon apparently a primary
word; (adverbially) certainly, or (conjunctionally) accordingly:--and (so,
truly), but, now (then), so (likewise then), then, therefore, verily,
wherefore.]
g. of his [Strong: 846 autos ow-tos' from the particle au
(perhaps akin to the base of 109 through the idea of a baffling wind)
(backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative 1438)
of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other
persons:--her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same,
((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves),
there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this
(man), those, together, very, which.]
h. death [Strong: 2288 thanatos than'-at-os from 2348;
(properly, an adjective used as a noun) death (literally or figuratively):--X
deadly, (be...) death.]
2. “…we shall be
also in the likeness of his resurrection:”
a. we shall be [Strong: 2071 esomai es'-om-ahee future of
1510; will be:--shall (should) be (have), (shall) come (to pass), X may have, X
fall, what would follow, X live long, X sojourn.]
b. also [Strong: 235 alla al-lah' neuter plural of 243;
properly, other things, i.e. (adverbially) contrariwise (in many
relations):--and, but (even), howbeit, indeed, nay, nevertheless, no,
notwithstanding, save, therefore, yea, yet.]
c. also [Strong: 2532 kai kahee apparently, a primary
particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also,
even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other
particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that,
then, therefore, when, yet.]
d. [in the likeness of his] resurrection [Strong: anastasis an-as'-tas-is
from 450; a standing up again, i.e. (literally) a resurrection from death
(individual, genitive case or by implication, (its author)), or (figuratively)
a (moral) recovery (of spiritual truth):--raised to life again, resurrection,
rise from the dead, that should rise, rising again.]
1). 1 Peter 1:1-5 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the
flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in
the flesh hath ceased from sin;
4:2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to
the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
4:3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will
of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine,
revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
4:4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same
excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
4:5 ho shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the
dead.
