Romans 7:9



Romans 7:9

For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

1. “For I was alive without the law once…”

a. For [Strong: 1161 de deh a primary particle (adversative or continuative); but, and, etc.:--also, and, but, moreover, now (often unexpressed in English).]

b. I [Strong: 1473 ego eg-o' a primary pronoun of the first person I (only expressed when emphatic):--I, me.]

2. “…but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.”

a. but [Strong: 1161 de deh a primary particle (adversative or continuative); but, and, etc.:--also, and, but, moreover, now (often unexpressed in English).]

b. [when the] commandment [Strong: 1785 entole en-tol-ay' from 1781; injunction, i.e. an authoritative prescription:--commandment, precept.]

g. I [Strong: 1473 ego eg-o' a primary pronoun of the first person I (only expressed when emphatic):--I, me.]

h. died [Strong: 599 apothnesko ap-oth-nace'-ko from 575 and 2348; to die off (literally or figuratively):--be dead, death, die, lie a-dying, be slain (X with).]

1). The death mentioned here has to be spiritual death.
