Romans 9:4
Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption,
and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of
God, and the promises;
1. “Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the
adoption…”
a. Who [Strong: 3748 hostis
hos'-tis, including the feminine hetis hay'-tis, and the neuter ho,ti
hot'-ee from 3739 and 5100; which some, i.e. any that; also (definite) which

of Israel (literally or figuratively):--Israelite.]

including feminine he hay, and neuter ho ho probably a primary word (or
perhaps a form of the article 3588); the relatively (sometimes demonstrative) pronoun,
who, which, what, that:--one, (an-, the) other, some, that, what, which,

law…”

the institution of the Mosaic code):--giving of the law.]
1). The Jewish nation were in
covenant with God they were the focus of the adoption, the glory, the
covenants, and the giving of the law.
a). Romans 3:1, 2 What advantage
then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?
3:2 Much every way: chiefly,
because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.
3. “…and the service of God, and the promises.”

a). Deuteronomy 1:8 Behold, I have
set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto
your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed
after them.
b). Genesis 50:24 And Joseph said
unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of
this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
