Galatians 5:19
Now the works of the flesh are manifest,
which are these; Adultery,
fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
a. NLT: When you
follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual
immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures,
b. NIV: The acts
of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;
c. YLT: And
manifest also are the works of the flesh, which are: Adultery, whoredom,
uncleanness, lasciviousness,
d. Amplified
Bible: Now the practices of the [i]sinful nature are clearly evident:
they are sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality (total irresponsibility, lack
of self-control),
e. Worrell
Translation: Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are, fornication,

the symbol of what is external, or as the means of kindred), or (by
implication) human nature (with its frailties (physically or morally) and
passions), or (specially), a human being (as such):--carnal(-ly, + -ly minded),
flesh(-ly).] [Vine: has a wider range of meaning in the NT than in the OT.
[D.C.: In this verse I limited Vines definitions to the following:] the weaker

fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,”
a. adultery [3430 * moicheia] [Strong: from 3431; adultery:--adultery.]
1). Matthew 5:27-30 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time,
Thou shalt not commit adultery:
5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust
after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
5:29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from
thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and
not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
5:30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from
thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and
not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

apparently meaning continent); licentiousness (sometimes including other
vices):--filthy, lasciviousness, wantonness.] [Zodhiates: license, debauchery,
sexual excess, absence of restraint, insatiable desire for pleasure.]
