Philippians 2:11
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is
Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

1. “And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ
is Lord…”
a. and [2532 * kai] [Strong:
apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a
cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection
(or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but,
even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.]
b. every [3956 * pas] [Strong: including
all the forms of declension; apparently a primary word; all, any, every, the
whole:--all (manner of, means), alway(-s), any (one), X daily, + ever, every
(one, way), as many as, + no(-thing), X thoroughly, whatsoever, whole,
whosoever.] [Helps Word Studies: means "all" in the sense of
"each (every) part that applies." The emphasis of the total picture
then is on "one piece at a time." 365 (ananeóō) then
focuses on the part(s) making up the whole – viewing the whole in
terms of the individual parts. When 3956 (pás) modifies a

[Strong: neuter of 3748 as conjunction; demonstrative, that (sometimes
redundant); causative, because:--as concerning that, as though, because (that),
for (that), how (that), (in) that, though, why.]

Hebrew origin (3091); Jesus (i.e. Jehoshua), the name of our Lord and two
(three) other Israelites:--Jesus.]

[Strong: from 5548; anointed, i.e. the Messiah, an epithet of Jesus:--Christ.]
h. is Lord [2962 * kurios]
[Strong: from kuros (supremacy); supreme in authority, i.e. (as noun)
controller; by implication, Master (as a respectful title):-- God, Lord,
master, Sir.]
1). I believe this is referring to
salvation because confessing Jesus as Lord is an intricate part of salvation.
a). Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt
confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that
God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
2). And of course it is God’s will for all to
be saved.
a). 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not
slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering
to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to
repentance.
b). 1 Timothy 2:4 Who will have
all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
3). I also believe this applies
just as the previous verse, to willingness or unwillingness, that all those
beings in existence from creation, in the earth or under the earth who refused
to bow their knee to Christ previously, will eventually do so. Probably at the
Great White Throne Judgment (Revelation 20:11-15).
