1 Kings 1:6

And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so? and he also was a very goodly man; and his mother bare him after Absalom.

1. “And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying Why hast thou done so?...”

Absalom [Strong: 53 ʼĂbîyshâlôwm, ab-ee-shaw-lome'; or (shortened) אַבְשָׁלוֹם ʼAbshâlôwm ; from H1 and H7965; father of peace (i.e. friendly); Abshalom, a son of David; also (the fuller form) a later Israelite:—Abishalom, Absalom.] [The KJV translates Strong's H53 in the following manner: Absalom (109x), Abishalom (2x).]

1). It appears Adonijah was spoiled and never disciplined. Everything he ever did was ok with his father. So he figured he was going to be the next king because he was the oldest son.

2). God told David before Solomon was ever born that Solomon would be the king after David and that Solomon would build the Temple (1 Chronicles 22:6-10). This was about two decades before Solomon became King. Scholars say he was about 18 or 19 when he became King.
