And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD'S, and he will give you into our hands.

1). From the time of his initial anointing by Samuel to be king, the Spirit of God came upon David. Just as the Spirit of God would come upon David to write psalms, the Spirit of God would come upon David to defend the sheep and kill and kind of predator seeking the sheep, and the Spirit of God came upon David to slay Goliath.
