For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

1. “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received…”

a. For [Strong: 1063. gar gar a primary particle; properly, assigning a reason (used in argument, explanation or intensification; often with other particles):--and, as, because (that), but, even, for, indeed, no doubt, seeing, then, therefore, verily, what, why, yet.]

b. [I] delivered [Strong: 3860. paradidomi par-ad-id'-o-mee from 3844 and 1325; to surrender, i.e yield up, intrust, transmit:--betray, bring forth, cast, commit, deliver (up), give (over, up), hazard, put in prison, recommend.]

h. received [Strong: 3880. paralambano par-al-am-ban'-o from 3844 and 2983; to receive near, i.e. associate with oneself (in any familiar or intimate act or relation); by analogy, to assume an office; figuratively, to learn:--receive, take (unto, with).]

2. “...how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;”

a. how [Strong: 3754. hoti hot'-ee neuter of 3748 as conjunction; demonstrative, that (sometimes redundant); causative, because:--as concerning that, as though, because (that), for (that), how (that), (in) that, though, why.]

b. [that] Christ [Strong: 5547. Christos khris-tos' from 5548; anointed, i.e. the Messiah, an epithet of Jesus:--Christ.]

c. died [Strong: 599. apothnesko ap-oth-nace'-ko from 575 and 2348; to die off (literally or figuratively):--be dead, death, die, lie a-dying, be slain (X with).]

1). Perry Stone Hebraic Prophetic Study Bible: Here Paul writes a review of the resurrection of Christ and the eyewitnesses. First, Christ died (Luke 23:46), but arose on the third day (See Acts 10:40). Cephas (Simon Peter; see Luke 24:34) saw him, followed by the eleven. The 500 brethren at once (v. 6) may refer to those gathered on the Mount of Olives when Christ ascended to heaven (Acts 1:8, 9). James seeing Jesus (v. 7) is not reported in Scripture. Paul saw Christ in a vision on the road to Damascus (see Acts 26:13-19). Paul feels unworthy lto be listed with the other Apostles since he persecuted the church before his conversion (v9).
