Genesis 37:10

 Genesis 37:10

And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?

a. ASV: And he told it to his father, and to his brethren; and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?  [Thomas Nelson & Sons first published the American Standard Version in 1901. b. YLT: And he recounteth unto his father, and unto his brethren; and his father pusheth against him, and saith to him, 'What is this dream which thou hast dreamt? do we certainly come -- I, and thy mother, and thy brethren -- to bow ourselves to thee, to the earth?'  [The Young's Literal Translation was translated by Robert Young, who believed in a strictly literal translation of God's word. This version of the Bible is in the public domain.]

c. Classic Amplified:  And he told it to his father [as well as] his brethren. But his father rebuked him and said to him, What is the meaning of this dream that you have dreamed? Shall I and your mother and your brothers actually come to bow down ourselves to the earth and do homage to you? d. NLT: This time he told the dream to his father as well as to his brothers, but his father scolded him. “What kind of dream is that?” he asked. “Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow to the ground before you?”  [Scripture quotations marked (NLT) are taken from the Holy Bible, New Living Translation, copyright © 1996, 2004, 2007. 1). Kenneth Hagin, Concerning Spiritual Gifts: In the Old Testament Joseph received a word of wisdom through a dream which revealed to him God’s plan and purpose for his future (Genesis 37:5-11).

2). It is a fact that God has used dreams throughout the Scriptures to convey His will and spiritual truth.

a). Jacob’s dream at Bethel, Genesis 28:10-22.

b). Daniel 4,  Nebuchadnezzar.

c). Matthew 1:20-24, Joseph marrying Mary.

d). Matthew 2:12, The wise men.

3). The Genesis Record, Henry M. Morris. “His [Joseph’s] personal character, while morally pure, was marred by spiritual pride to a degree which his brothers finally found impossible to tolerate.”

4). Gordon Lindsay: Does this statement of Jacob’s mean that Joseph had this dream while his mother was still alive? If so, the dreams must have come at an earlier time than just before the lad was sold into Egypt.
