Romans 14:11

Romans 14:11

For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

a. NLT: For the Scriptures say, “‘As surely as I live,’ says the LORD, ‘every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will confess and give praise to God.’”

b. NIV: It is written: “ ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’ ”

c. YLT: for it hath been written, 'I live! saith the Lord -- to Me bow shall every knee, and every tongue shall confess to God;'

e. Worrell Translation: For it is written, “As I live, saiath the Lord, to Me every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess to God.”

1). This is one of the passages in the New Testament that identifies Christ Jesus to the LORD God of the Old Testament. The very next verse in Romans 14 is a quote from Isaiah 45:22, 23.

a). Isaiah 45:22, 23 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
45:23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

b). Philippians 2:9, 10 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
