1 Kings 11:2
Of
the nations concerning which the Lord said unto the children of Israel, Ye
shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they
will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.
a. NLT: The
LORD had clearly instructed the people of Israel, ‘You must not marry
them, because they will turn your hearts to their gods.’ Yet Solomon insisted
on loving them anyway.
b. NIV: They
were from nations about which the LORD had told the Israelites, “You must
not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their
gods.” Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love.
c. YLT: of
the nations of which Jehovah said unto the sons of Israel, 'Ye do not go in to
them, and they do not go in to you; surely they turn aside your heart after
their gods;' to them hath Solomon cleaved for love.
d.
Amplified Bible Classic: They were of the very nations of whom the Lord said to
the Israelites, You shall not mingle with them, neither shall they mingle with
you, for surely they will turn away your hearts after their gods. Yet Solomon
clung to these in love.
e.
Septuagint: of the nations concerning whom the Lord forbade the children of
Israel, [saying], Ye shall not go in to them, and they shall not come in to
you, lest they turn away your hearts after their idols: Solomon clave to these
in love.

houses full of all good things which you did not fill, and cisterns hewn out
which you did not hew, and vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant,
and when you eat and are full,
6:12 Then
beware lest you forget the Lord, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out
of the house of bondage.
6:13 You
shall [reverently] fear the Lord your God and serve Him and swear by His name
[and presence].
6:14 You
shall not go after other gods, any of the gods of the peoples who are round
