1). Comparative passage

a). 1 Chronicles 13:7, 8 And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drave the cart.
13:8 And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.

2). This is an amazing scene, here we have the King of Israel with many of the leaders of Israel worshipping God with all their might while they bring the Ark of the Covenant to the city of David and to the place where the Ark would rest. Yet they were in disobedience and it wasn’t until after the death of Uzza that it was realized. As we shall see, the Ark remained in Obededom’s house for three months. During that time David came to the realization that the Ark is to be carried by the Levites and not transported by a cart. This is such a lesson for us, that we must know what the Bible says and realize that ignorance is not an excuse it is a detriment.

a). Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

3). David later recognized this error in 1 Chronicles 15 as being his and the Levite’s fault.

a). 1 Chronicles 15:11-13 And David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab,
15:12 And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.
15:13 For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.
