2 Samuel 9:3
And
the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that
I may shew the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king, Jonathan
hath yet a son, which is lame on his feet.

king then asked him, “Is anyone still alive from Saul’s family? If so, I want
to show God’s kindness to them.” Ziba replied, “Yes, one of Jonathan’s sons is
still alive. He is crippled in both feet.”

king asked, “Is there no one still alive from the house of Saul to whom I can
show God’s kindness?” Ziba answered the king, “There is still a son of
Jonathan; he is lame in both feet.”

became lame in his feet when as a child the news came of the death of Saul and
Jonathan came to those around him.

Samuel 4:4 And Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son that was lame
of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul
and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came
to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.
b). It
was customary that when a king died that the ones desiring to capture the
throne would eliminate all the heirs of the king, and this is why the nurse
fled with Mephibosheth.
