1). Footnotes from the Amplified Bible: Isaiah also
made this prophecy:
a). Isaiah 31:6-9 Turn ye unto him from whom
the children of Israel have deeply revolted.
31:7 For in that day every man shall cast away his
idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you
for a sin.
31:8 Then shall the Assyrian fall with the sword,
not of a mighty man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him: but he
shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be discomfited.
31:9 And he shall pass over to his strong hold for
fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the ensign, saith the LORD, whose fire
is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.
2). Isaiah and Hosea lived to see its remarkable,
literal fulfillment:
a). Isaiah 37:36, 37 Then the angel of the LORD
went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and
five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were
all dead corpses.
37:37 So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and
went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.
b). 2 Kings 19:35, 36 And it came to pass that
night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the
Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in
the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.
19:36 So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and
went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.
